The perfect emergency kit for your office

You're at work and a disaster hits. It turns out you can't leave and go home because all of the roads are closed. What do you do?

It's a good thing that you're prepared with your own emergency kit that you keep under your desk. You hope that you can leave safely within the next few hours but if you can't, it's not the end of the world because of the emergency kit that will hold you over for 72 hours if necessary. This is what you need to have:

  • Water (minimum of 3 liters)
  • Water purification tablets
  • Emergency blanket
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • First Aid kit
  • Emergency whistle
  • A multitool such as a Gerber Dime or a Leatherman Wingman
  • Emergency radio
  • Energy bars (9)
  • Wet wipes
  • Chewing gum or candy bars
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Ibuprofen/Tylenol
  • Running shoes and socks (dress shoes are uncomfortable and you don't want to walk several miles in them if you need to evacuate)
  • Poncho
  • Dust mask (there tends to be a lot of dust and smoke in emergency situations)
  • Draggin Bag to store all of your items

Now that you know what you need, start by purchasing 1-2 items a week until you have everything you need. You don't need to panic and break the bank by buying everything all at once. Which item will you add first? Let us know in the comments below!
